UCPH School of Archaeology enters into Nordic collaboration. The next PhD course will take place in Athens in November

DialPast - Nordic Graduate School in Archaeology

DialPast has its base at the University of Oslo and was established in 2004 as a cooperation between archaeology departments from the Nordic countries. The overall objective of DialPast is to address theoretical, methodological, and interpretative challenges by providing PhD fellows with increased access to multi-disciplinary, world-class academic networks, courses, and workshops. This strategy has secured and will continue to secure competent individuals for the broad labour market in museums, management, and university departments.

The University of Copenhagen is a long-term member, and PhD fellows have participated in courses and workshops organized by DialPast regularly. Also, the Saxo Institute has hosted DialPast board meetings on several occasions with Tim Flohr Sørensen (Saxo) representing the University of Copenhagen on the board. In addition to contributing to the operation of the Graduate School, he has organized three full courses for DialPast (in 2012, 2017 and 2020).

As of 2023, the UCPH School of Archaeology has taken over the membership on behalf of the University of Copenhagen, providing access for PhD fellows enrolled at the University of Copenhagen to the events offered by the Nordic network.

The next event is Archaeology of the Anthropocene, a PhD course at The Norwegian Institute in Athens, Greece from 27-30 November. Registration is still open, though the formal deadline has passed.

PhD fellows enrolled at UCPH who get accepted but have no other means of funding can apply for travel funding to the steering committee (my@hum.ku.dk).
